types of abdominoplasty
In a full abdominoplasty, your surgeon will shape the skin and muscles as needed. The operative incision is located horizontally above the pubic bone. The umbilicus is preserved on the abdominal wall, but it is possible to reposition it. During the healing period, it is important that the surgical incisions are not subjected to excessive tension, friction or movement.
A mini abdominoplasty, or small partial tummy tuck, is done with fewer incisions and is often performed on people who have less excess skin. Your belly button will most likely not be moved during this type of procedure. The intervention is suitable in milder cases, when the problem area is located below the navel.
Peripheral abdominoplasty also includes the back area. When there is a lot of excess fat on the back, as well as on the abdomen, liposuction or peripheral abdominoplasty can be used. There are other types of abdominoplasty. You can discuss with your surgeon which of them is the most suitable for you.

Abdominoplasty or liposuction?
Abdominoplasty and liposuction are often confused, but they are two different surgical procedures. Liposuction removes fat deposits but not loose skin, as in abdominoplasty. However, these two interventions can be combined.
The effect of the intervention is noticeable almost immediately, but the final results take several weeks. All post-operative instructions should be strictly followed during the recovery process for optimal results. It is advisable to avoid abrupt changes in weight and maintain good physical condition.
For whom is abdominoplasty suitable?
People who are planning significant weight loss or women who are considering future pregnancies will not be good candidates for the procedure and will need to postpone the intervention. It may not be appropriate to perform the intervention if the patient has a severe chronic illness or previous abdominal surgery.
People who have excess skin, weakened abdominal muscles, good overall health and have realistic expectations may undergo this intervention.
