Surgery with a robotic system: advantages for the patient and the surgeon
- Precision: The robot eliminates hand tremors, ensuring high accuracy.
- Visualization: 3D images with magnification for better visibility of the operative field.
- Accessibility: Operating in hard-to-reach, narrow areas.
- Minimally invasive: Small incisions, less pain, less blood loss.
- Fast recovery: The patient recovers faster.
Important: Robotic surgery is not right for everyone. Consult a doctor about the most suitable method for you.
Additional benefits:
- Better ergonomics for the surgeon, reduces fatigue.
- Shorter duration of some operations.
- Possibility of remote operation.
Robotic surgery in cardiovascular diseases
Minimally invasive:
- No major open surgery
- Access through small incisions
- More comfortable for the patient
- Shorter recovery
Suitable for:
- Heart valve repair and replacement (including TAVI)
- Robotic bypass surgery
- Rhythm disturbances
- Problems in the right or left atrium
A solution for patients with multiple surgeries:
- Access through a small incision under the arm
- No heart damage
On a beating heart:
- No cardiac arrest
- No disturbances in cardiac functions
- Shorter operation
- Minimal risk of infections, bleeding and blood transfusion
Robotic surgery in general surgery
Minimally invasive:
- Treatment of abdominal and digestive diseases
- Small incisions, less pain, faster recovery
Applications:
- Hernias
- Obesity
- Colon cancer
- Inflammatory bowel diseases
- Colorectal surgery (including rectal cancer)
- Bariatric surgery (gastric bypass)
Advantages:
- Colorectal surgery: Protection of nerves in the operative area
- Bariatric surgery: Easier surgery, shorter recovery
- Overall: Better precision, better visualization
Additional benefits:
- Better ergonomics for the surgeon, reduces fatigue
- Less blood loss
- Shorter duration of some operations
Robotic surgery in gynecology
A minimally invasive alternative:
- For women who need gynecological surgery
- Small incisions, less pain, faster recovery
Applications:
- Endometriosis
- Abdominal and pelvic pain
- Myoma of the uterus
- Abnormal bleeding
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Gynecological cancer (cancer of the endometrium, cervix, ovaries)
- Hysterectomy (removal of the uterus)
- Myomectomy (removal of fibroid nodes)
- Sacrocolpopexy (correction of vaginal or uterine prolapse)
- Fallopian tube surgery
Advantages:
- Nerve preservation: Better urinary function and sex life
- Better precision: Less trauma, faster healing
- 3D visualization: Better visibility for the surgeon
Robotic surgery in urology
Commonly used:
- In men with urological diseases
- Minimally invasive
Applications:
- Unblocking of the kidneys (pyeloplasty)
- Kidney cancer (robotic partial nephrectomy)
- Prostate cancer (radical prostatectomy)
Advantages:
- Minimally invasive: Small incisions, less pain, faster recovery
- Better urinary control: Preservation of delicate structures
- Better erectile function: Less nerve trauma
Comparison with conventional surgery
- Prostatectomy: Shorter incision, less blood loss, faster recovery
- Partial nephrectomy: Better kidney function, shorter hospital stay
Robotic rehabilitation
Applications:
- Stroke (paralysis)
- Traumatic brain injury
- Paralysis due to a brain tumor
- Spinal cord injury
- Parkinson's disease
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Cerebral paralysis
- Gait and balance disorders in geriatric patients
- Nerve damage
- After orthopedic operations
Types:
- Robotic walking training
- Robotic hand and palm training
- Robotic training for balance and coordination
- Occupational therapy
- Speech and language and swallowing therapy
- Gait analysis
- Evaluation and treatment of spasticity
- Injections preventing excessive muscle contraction
Lokomat Pro with pediatric orthoses, such as Walking Robot for walking, Armeo Spring for upper limbs, C-Mill VR+ for balance.
